Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) Training
The Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), one of today’s most important clinical tools in the assessment and management of swallowing disorders, is an indispensable method in both diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making processes.
Organized by Prof. Dr. Elif Aksoy in collaboration with RMK AIMES, the FEES training courses are designed for otolaryngologists, speech and language therapists, healthcare professionals working in the field of dysphagia, and multidisciplinary team members. By combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, the training aims to enhance participants’ skills in performing, interpreting, and reporting FEES.
FEES Course 2026
May 21–22, 2026
Within the scope of the course, organized with updated content and expanded hands-on modules, the following topics were addressed in detail:
- Indications and clinical applications of FEES,
- Systematic evaluation of endoscopic findings,
- Use of the PAS, Murray, and Yale Pharyngeal Residue Severity Rating Scale,
- Case-based FEES analysis and academic reporting,
- Application of therapeutic maneuvers,
- Use of FEES in neurological diseases, head and neck cancers, patients with tracheostomy, and geriatric dysphagia,
- The role of FEES in multidisciplinary dysphagia management
In the hands-on sessions of the course, participants gained one-on-one experience in passing the endoscope through the nasal passage, evaluating anatomical structures, performing laryngopharyngeal sensory examination, and applying therapeutic techniques.
