Prof. Dr. Elif Aksoy – Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist
Born in Istanbul in 1974, Prof. Dr. Elif Aksoy graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1997. She completed her specialization in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2002 and began her career as a specialist at Acıbadem Bakırköy Hospital in 2003.
Between March 2009 and November 2021, Prof. Dr. Aksoy worked at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital. Since November 2021, she has been seeing patients at her private clinic as a member of the Teşvikiye ENT Group.
In 2011, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine, Department of ENT, became an Associate Professor in 2013, and achieved the title of Professor in 2018.
International Experience and Academic Studies
To contribute to her professional development internationally, she worked in 2004 at the Voice and Swallowing Center at Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital in New York with Prof. Dr. Jonathan E. Aviv and Prof. Dr. Thomas Murry. During this time, she received advanced training in:
- Endoscopic swallowing evaluation
- Transnasal esophagoscopy
- Microlaryngeal voice surgery
In 2005, she earned the FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) certificate from the same center.
In 2016, she enhanced her knowledge and experience by working with Prof. Dr. Peter Belafsky at the UC Davis Voice and Swallowing Clinic in the USA, focusing on transnasal esophagoscopy, office procedures, videofluoroscopic swallowing evaluations, and endolaryngeal surgeries.
Additionally, she has served as an instructor at the AO Craniomaxillofacial course and has provided training in endoscopic sinus surgery cadaver dissection courses at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. She actively participates in the Istanbul Skull Base Working Group under the leadership of Prof. Dr. İlhan Elmacı.
